Precautions for reuse of COD test tubes: 4 Key Points

Feb. 20th, 2025

Reusing COD test tubes will definitely have safety risks. Everyone has different operating habits, and the impact of reuse on the tube is also different. As a reagent product, it is not recommended to reuse it anyway. At present, no manufacturer on the market dares to promise that there is no problem with reuse. After all, there is strong acid in the tube. Don't be afraid of ten thousand but be afraid of one. The cost of saving costs is huge.

If you really need to reuse, please follow the details below. This is crucial for your personal safety and instruments.

1. Avoid shock cleaning. Tubes touching bottles will affect the stress of the glass. If the stress is uneven, it will break and explode when used. It is recommended to rinse with clean water. Try not to touch the tube with the tube. After washing, dry it overnight!

2. Glass transfers heat slowly. Sudden heating and cooling will cause extremely uneven internal and external temperatures, which will cause the glass tube to burst. Extreme cold and heat should be avoided. It is recommended to gradually heat up and cool naturally when cooling (if the temperature is below 10 degrees, it can be placed in 30-50 degrees water to gradually cool down).

3. Pay attention to the condition of the lid. If the lid is deformed or the gasket inside the lid is deformed and the color of the rubber layer is exposed, the lid needs to be replaced. Generally, the reusable lid is a transparent lid or a black lid.

4. The number of repeated digestions of COD test tubes at 165 degrees is recommended to be within 3 times, and the number of repeated digestions at other temperatures within 125 degrees is recommended to be within 10 times.
